Investigating Students' Motivation in Reading Comprehension Activities: A Narrative Study in Junior High School

Motivation is crucial in the educational world and must be maintained. It will almost surely increase learning results with motivation. This narrative research aims to investigate students' perceptions of motivation throughout class reading activities. This study included 6 participants: 5 students (boys and girls) and 1 teacher from a junior high school in Pekalongan. Interviews were employed to collect data, and thematic analysis was used to interpret the data. According to the findings of this study, the majority of them are highly motivated to engage in reading activities. This occurs when the teacher employs several instructional strategies to reduce student boredom while learning. This study is anticipated to boost teachers' and students' interest in learning English, particularly in reading activities.
