Declarative Speech Act Analysis of The Main Character Used in The "Super 30" Movie

Speech act is an aspect of pragmatics that can be studied in linguistics. What a person does through his speech is called a speech act. Besides in addition being found in everyday life, speech acts can also be found in a movie. The author chose this film because this film is an educational film, because there is still rarely an analysis of the Super 30 film. This study refers to the declarative speech acts used by the main character in the "Super 30" movie. The present study aims to identify the declarative speech acts uttered by the main character. This study used qualitative method in which data collection is done by watching the movie and analyzing the declarative speech acts by the main character. The data are analyzed descriptively using pragmatics theory by Yule. The results of the study show that some declarative speech acts produced by the main character in the film "Super 30" often use simulation and demonstration methods rather than lecture and discussion methods which had the impact of making it easier for students to understand the teacher's explanation.
