Code-Switching In English Language Learning Among Members Of English Club At Senior High School
This research explores the phenomenon of code-switching in the context of English learning among high school students who are members of English Clubs. Code-switching, the practice of switching between two or more languages or common language varieties during communication, is an occurrence in multilingual environments. In the specific environment of English Club activities, code-switching often plays an important role in establishing language acquisition and proficiency. Research uses qualitative data collection methods, to investigate patterns, reasons, code-switching among participants. Data was collected through observation and interviews, to find out how and why students use code-switching in learning English in English Clubs. The findings of this study highlight the how and why of learning English in the context of English Clubs. Understanding the motivations and consequences of code-switching can inform educators and curriculum designers about how to exploit this phenomenon to improve language learning outcomes. Ultimately, this research contributes to a deeper understanding of language dynamics in informal learning environments and offers practical essence for educators working with multilingual learners.
