Teachers' Experience in Reducing EFL Students' Reading Anxiety in an Indonesian Junior High School
Reading anxiety is one type of anxiety found in English as a second language learners in junior high school. This study aims to explore teachers' experiences in reducing students' reading anxiety in junior high school. This study used qualitative methods with three junior high school English teachers and three junior high school students as participants. Data were collected using interviews and then the data were analyzed using Braun and Clark's thematic analysis theory. The results of this study show the form of anxiety experienced by students and strategies used by teachers to reduce reading anxiety such as summarizing, questioning, predicting, motivation, repeating, BKOF, and suggestopedia. This research can provide insight into the strategies used by teachers to reduce reading anxiety experienced by students in junior high school.
