Students' Perceptions of The Use of Picture Series in Writing Recount Text in Junior High School
The students have difficulty mastering writing skills. The difficulty is not only to generate and organize ideas but also to translate these ideas into text that can be read. In the teaching and learning process, students have difficulty writing recount text. This difficulty is because students do not have ideas for writing so they have difficulty in composing words and students' low understanding of the use of grammar and punctuation in a recount text. The researchers tried to solve the problem with problem formulations: what are the students' perceptions of writing recount text using picture series? This research used narrative, according to Webster & Metrova (2007). This study used observation, interviews, and documentation techniques to obtain data. The contribution of this research is useful for English language teaching, especially in using picture series in teaching writing. The researcher took a sample of 5 students to be interviewed from grade 8 in junior high school. The results of the study show that the use of picture series in writing recount text produces a positive perception from students, they are able to increase their new vocabulary, more enjoy/spirit, easier understand the material, more active, students can imagine and express their writing and students can improve their pronunciation.
