The Use of Pictures in Teaching English Vocabulary at Junior High School
In this increasingly modern and sophisticated world, learning English is a must. Although students learn English since Junior High School, there are still many students who have difficulty speaking English. This study investigates the use of picture media in teaching vocabulary to students at Junior High School. Students at Junior High School as the object of research. This research is an Classroom Action Research (CAR) by Kemmis and Mctaggart. This study use test, observation, and documentation techniques to obtain data. Then it analyzed using descriptive statistics. The contribution of this study is to overcome the limitations of students' English vocabulary by using picture media. The results showed that the use of picture media in teaching students vocabulary was a test showing that the average score of a student's exercise before taking action was 63, 5 with six students declared complete. It shows that learning English has a success rate of 30%. After the researcher took the first cycle of action, the students' Post-Test scores showed that the class average was 93.25. Of 20 students showed that all students get the value of achieving the specified target. The use of pictures in teaching students vocabulary showed a 100% success rate. It categorized as a perfect success rate, so this research is carried out with one action. This show that the use of picture in teaching English vocabulary is able to improve students memory, more interested, and students are more focused on learning. Besides that, it can make the classroom atmosphere lively.
